“The idea arose when everything closed due to Covid, including the swimming pool in Selfoss. Before the pandemic, I visited the swimming pool daily. To me, it was pure necessity and a big part of my life. I began to process being confined at home during a pandemic, which turned into an angel who dives into the depths in search of answers. This gave me an outlet for my yearning for the water and at the same time the angel became a personification of an escape from this pandemic. An angel who could save things if he finds the virus and finds a way to destroy it. Somehow it became obvious that we are just as vulnerable as all other living things in this world, and that in fact, everything is the same. One small virus could destroy us all and change our hopes and dreams for the future.
The watercolor paintings exhibited are only a few of the sketches I made before I decided to paint a larger piece based on this idea.“
