En hilsen over havet – Postkort fra nordatlantiske kunstnere

Kære Gunna!
On behalf of The North Atlantic House in Copenhagen, I hereby invite you to contribute to the exhibition Greetings across the ocean - a spontaneous artistic reflection on the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic. The exhibition is inspired by Mail Art, art as correspondance, which now seems highly relevant in times where we are forced to be “together – apart“. The invitation is sent by post to over 100 artists from the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland. The exhibition will take form from Juen 13th to October 18th 20202 and has free entrance.
The envelope with this letter contains a blank postcard and one or more postage stamps. If you would like to contribute to the exhibition, then send us greetings on the postcard in the form of a drawing or a text – or something entirely different. Write your name on the back, affix the stamps on the card and put it in the nearest mailbox or leave it at your local post office. When your contribution arrives, we´ll install it right away. You can follow up via The North Atlantic House on social media, where we gather the postcards in a digital archive over the course of the exhibition. After the exhibition we´ll return the postcard together with documentation of the project.
When the Hungarian artist Endre Tót was living behind the Iron Curtain in the 1970´s, he started sending countless works of Mail Art to the rest of the world. He understood that people could communacate through art, even from what seemed to be great distances. Today we also seem very far apart, but I believe that art can bring us closer together.
I hope you´ll send a greeting across the ocean.
