Points of View – a journey through the visual world of Iceland.
The exhibition Points of View gives visitors the chance to delve into the collections of six different cultural institutions. Points of view is a unique journey through Iceland's visual legacy, offering an innovative guide to a nation's cultural history.
Guðrúns' piece on the show is one of her painted newspapers from 1983 owned by the National Gallery of Iceland.
The exhibition is a collaboration between Iceland's three leading museums in their respective fields – the National Museum of Iceland, National Gallery of Iceland and the Icelandic Museum of Natural History– and the National Archives of Iceland, National and University Library of Iceland, and Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies.
The artist’s book Our land is a painting on a newspaper. The work is 44 pages, created on the newspaper Morgunblaðið from Saturday the 18th of September 1982. The paper becomes a part of the painting as its surface and content. The title “Lands vors” is painted on the front cover of the work. The artist’s book is signed by the author with a stamp and handwritten date 1982 on the front cover of the work.
