Guðrún Tryggvadóttir's show “Uppruni / Source“ opened in The Corridor on January 19. The show will be open through April 4th. Press “View“ here below to view some of the pieces on the show.
The title “Source“ refers to both content and the type of work exhibited. It is primary documentations or the birth process of ideas. Guðrún works a lot with her insight, dreams and feelings, grasping ideas and getting them quickly on paper and also developing them further in an extremely organized manner aiming to visualize time and origin af matter including us human beings.
Guðrún studied at the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts, École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich. She worked and exhibited in Iceland for a while, then in the U.S.A. and Germany. Guðrún moved back to Iceland at the turn of the century and has mostly worked in the field of design and conceptualisation as an entrepreneur but in the past years she has dedicated her time completely to her art.

The Corridor is an artist run exhibition space in Reykjavík. situated in the home of the artist Helgi Þorgils Friðjónsson. The Corridor has been running continuously for 36 year, the main aim being to introduce foreign artist to locals and vice versa. The Corridor in not a typical gallery, but still it must be kept in mind, that even though it does not have a high profile in public life, its influence on Icelandic art life extends far beyond the confines of the home at Rekagrandi.
