The Artists’ Colony of Hveragerði - a show in the Hveragerði Public park.
The association Friends of the Arts in Hveragerði has renewed the friendship with the pioneers of the artists' colony established in Hveragerði in the forties and fifties and created an outdoor exhibition about them. The exhibition The Artists’ Colony in Hveragerði was unveiled on Friday the 12th of August 2016 at 4 pm.
Guðrún Tryggvadóttir designed the exhibition and she and her friends on the board of the association Friends of the Arts in Hveragerði did the research work. Many more contributed to the development and production. Einar Bergmundur developed the app and Illugi Jökulsson wrote the texts along with the board.
This is the third exhibition of the Friends of the Arts that Guðrún designs and contains 9 large glasswalls along the walking paths in Hveragerðis' public park. The exhibition is a gift from the Friends of the Arts to the town of Hveragerði on its 70th birthday.
The exhibition depicts 9 of the pioneer artists of the colony; Kristján frá Djúpalæk, Jóhannes úr Kötlum, Kristmann Guðmundsson, Valdís Halldórsdóttir, Gunnar Benediktsson, Helgi Sveinsson, Höskuldur Björnsson, Kristinn Pétursson and Ingunn Bjarnadóttir.
